On June 17, 2023, the Whitney Plantation Museum in Edgard, Louisiana, will commemorate Juneteenth with a FREE fun-filled day for the entire family (ALL AGES). Museum entrance, including a self-guided tour of the grounds and buildings, will be included.
The festival will feature dance lessons from the Neungola Sibo African Dance and Drum Company, Inc., of New Orleans. Health screenings, including Cholesterol, Glucose, and Blood Pressure checks, will be provided. New Orleans-based chef, cookbook author, and cultural ambassador Toya Boudy, will facilitate a mouth-watering conversation about the role that food has played in the lives and families of Black Louisianians since they arrived.
Shoppers will browse vendor booths selling artwork, apparel, jewelry, and crafts.
Food, drinks, and treats by some of the most popular local vendors in St. John the Baptist and surrounding River Parishes will be available for purchase.

- How much does this event cost? This event is FREE to the public. In honor of the Juneteenth holiday, the Whitney Plantation is waiving the cost of museum admission.
- Will there be tours? Guests are welcome to take our audio tour for free, by downloading our Whitney Plantation App in your phone’s app store.
- Will there be guided tours? Only self-guided tours will be available on June 17, 2023. Visitors should expect to download our free app. The self-guided tour is fully transcribed and is available in the following languages: English, French, Spanish, German, and Mandarin.
- Can I bring my dog? Service animals are more than welcome on the property of the museum. Visitors who wish to bring their service animals on the museum grounds must have the appropriate harness on the animal. Pets are not able to join in this event.
