Tours for Large Groups at Whitney Plantation Museum

While many of our visitors arrive in smaller groups, we recognize that large groups also desire to experience our tours at Whitney Plantation. Whether on an outing with colleagues, a family reunion, or other large gathering, we are excited to offer a tour experience for you and your group!

These group tours are a wonderful opportunity for large groups to learn about the history of slavery and the experiences of the people who were enslaved on this and other Louisiana sugar plantations. Your group will be led by a member of our very knowledgeable staff of Historic Interpreters, who have extensive training in the history of this site, as well as diverse backgrounds that make each of these tours a unique experience.

Bookings for these tours are available for groups of 21 to 50 individuals. Tours are offered every day with the exception of Sunday and Tuesday, and are offered on a first-come, first-serve basis. A deposit is required no later than 2 weeks prior to your tour date to finalize confirmation.

If your group is composed of students in 5th to 12th grade, please visit our Educational Tours page if you wish to have that tour experience.

The museum opens at 9:30am CST, so tours may start as early as 10:00am CST and no later than 2:00pm CST. Upon booking, you will receive a 2 hour window in which to arrive and start your tour. This window is not the length of the tour itself; however, you may have a shortened tour experience if you arrive more than an hour into your window. Once booked, you will be contacted by a member of our staff to confirm the details of your visit.

Group Tour Policies:

Bookings are required for all groups and are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. A minimum 25% deposit is required no later than 2 weeks prior to your tour date to finalize confirmation. Face coverings are optional for all guests.

The number of groups available for each day is limited so please be prepared to make your request early and include additional dates. Group tours are booked no later than 3 weeks in advance to ensure coordination and payment for your tour.

Payment in full is required prior to the beginning of the tour on the date of your arrival. If your final numbers have changed, we can adjust the remaining balance accordingly, as long as the group remains in the appropriate numbers for this type of tour.

Additional Information about the Tour:

Guided group tours include the Antioch Baptist Church, Wall of Honor, Slave Cabins, Detached Kitchen, and Big House. Other locations on site, such as the Field of Angels and 1811 German Coast Uprising Memorials, are not included on the tour, but are accessible after the conclusion of your tour. Please plan your time, including travel, accordingly.

Whitney Plantation is a largely outdoor site-weather, insects, smells, plants and animals may be encountered at any given time. Plan to wear clothing appropriate for walking and being outdoors.

Whitney Plantation is a site for remembrance. Attendees of all tours are expected to treat Whitney staff and site with respect, including buildings, memorials, and the land itself.
